Why Hotbox?
The Scandi/Irish Original
Anna and Carl Isaksson brought the Hotbox experience to Northern Ireland from Carl’s native Sweden in 2020. Custom-designing a sauna that could be brought onto the stunning sands of Benone Strand, their design is, just like them, a Scandi/Irish original.

We care about sauna
For many cultures, saunas are a vital part of life. We think they should be here too. They’re a way for us to embrace and enjoy the wet, cold Irish climate. They’re the perfect place to catch up and talk with your people. That’s why our sessions are longer than the norm in both Hotbox locations - a minimum of 1 hour and up to 2 hours or more for larger groups.
We care about design
Our Hotbox saunas are designed by us and custom made for the sandy dunes and green hills of Northern Ireland. Peppered with fine finishes and satisfying design details like our mood lights and the feel of our bench boards on your skin, our saunas are made from chemical free materials like heat treated pine, cork and hemp. We’ve really taken care with our locations; the views on the way to and from the sauna are all part of the experience.
We care about doing no harm
Benone Strand is beautiful and we want it to stay that way so, Hotbox Seaside operates a ‘leave no trace’ policy. This means only using non-toxic, natural cleaners after each session, and compostable cups and refillable products at both locations. You might say we are a bit extra, but we often do a general beach clean when we get a moment between sessions.
HotBox Countryside is entirely off-grid with a composting toilet. We only use FSC certified firewood so it burns with no black smoke and very little ash. What ash we do create is collected by a local craftsperson who uses it to stretch goat skin in drums - how random is that?
HotBox Happy
We’ve been running HotBox and spreading our Scandi/Irish sauna culture since May 2021. In that time, we’ve seen people of all kinds; some say they don’t like the cold, some say they don’t like the heat.
